Sponsor | fantm | Oct 28, 2005 2:50pm | With gasoline prices so high these days, I'm definitely looking for ways to save a few dollars. Besides buying a more fuel-efficient car, here are some ways to actually conserve fuel:
- turn off the air conditioning (I did this, and wow, what a difference in mpg)
- drive 65mph or less on the freeway (the faster you go, the more fuel you use. True!)
- Get that extra stuff out of the trunk; lighten the load
- keep tires inflated properly
- Don't buy premium gas unless your car manufacturer recommends is (unfortuately, my car needs this stuff :-( )
- Find a local gas station that sells it cheaper. Check gaspricewatch.com/new/ [gaspricewatch.com/new/] for US stations.
Did I miss anything? |

UPS drivers avoid left hand turns. They make all right turns. At left hand turns one must wait often. I do not know how practical that is for us regular folks.
A/C off and windows rolled up too. |

They plan their trips to be the most efficient that they can be.
Get your car tuned up and well maintained.
When gas was $3.00 every 1/10 of a mile I coasted I saved .01 ! woo hoo |
