Sponsor | twochris | Sep 23, 2007 6:47am | Oh sorry. They just grow in my back yard wild. I drive the neigbours crazy by letting them grow and go to seed. Milkweed seeds should be flat, like paper, brown and oval shaped. When they come out of the milkweed pod they have a white feathery tuft that lets them fly, but I imagine if they are shipped to you they will take this bit off. I'd be interested to know how yours come though! I've never tried to grow them, so I'm not sure how hard they would be to grow.
Edit: I commented because I was happy to see people trying to grow milkweed. It is the only thing the Monarchs survive on. |

But thanks all the same, I'll be growing milkweed from some source next year since I have a bunch of monarch chrysalises `round here lately.
-Will be growing flowers for nectar as well, ...-if anyone knows where to get some cheap. |

This is the only colour I have seen. I go the this picture from this site. It has growing instructions etc. Good luck! Sometimes you can get butterfly mixes for cheap at a local hardware store, especially at the end of the season. |

It looks almost volunteer orange, y'know. |
